So getting physical assistance is not as easy as pulling onto the hard shoulder of the M6 in UK. The next habitation is 160km further on with probably only a bush mechanic. Since the sound first appeared we have travelled about 200km to get to a roadhouse (fuel station). I think the flashing EDC light is a symptom of whatever is causing the air rushing sound so my focus is on finding that first. So I dont think it is limited or loss of fuel supply. I could not find any threads related to the sound I hear but have read all those I could find regarding EDC injection system light flashing, which seems to have many causes.Įngine starts as normal and does not cough or splutter at any time and is normal except for air rushing sound and occasional EDC light flash. Time between flashes varies from 30 seconds to over 5 minutes. When EDC light is on engine power is reduced but power comes back when light goes out. Sound remained as before then every so often EDC light flashed. Stopped and did visual checks then continued driving. Sound level increases proportional to increase in engine load, irrespective of which gear is engaged, from about 1,500rpm plus.Ĭontinued driving for about half hour, then EDC injection system light flashed a couple of times. Sound only appears when engine is under load. Revved engine to 3,000rpm while coasting, no sound.Įngaged gears again when back up to about 1,500rpm plus sound came back as before. While stationary I revved engine to 3,000rpm, all ok no unusual sounds.īack on the road the air rushing sound came back from about 1,500rpm and gets louder as revs increase. No fluids dripping from underneath.Ĭhecked tyres, bodywork, bull bar, exhaust system for damage etc, all ok, no holes in exhaust. Visual check of rest of engine compartment did not reveal anything untoward. Removed air filter and refitted, it is clean and new. Pulled over and checked air intake and filter. I describe the sound as air sucking but it could be air blowing but does not seem to be like an exhaust blow. Sound was coming from right hand side of engine compartment i.e. Sound is similar to flooring a big V8 and the sudden demand of the engine causes an air rushing sound. Whilst travelling at about 90kph on flat road suddenly heard a loud sound like air being sucked into engine, much louder then normal. Serviced by Iveco dealer about 850 km prior to problem appearing, all filters changed and they didnt report any problems or potential ones. I have had vehicle from new and covered 95,000 km without problems. We have a Daily 65C17 3.0 litre, manufactured 2005. Hoping for some pointers to problem below.
